International relations students get involved in LIFE
Our International relations’ students have fully embraced the new LIFE projects in the university. The goal of the projects is to bring together different fields in order to solve a problem. Students set their own goals in the project and can also offer their own ideas. IR students have participated in very different projects, from human rights’ to organising a conference.
But there have been two projects where the students have not only contributed to a real life solution but also advanced the theoretical concepts. In spring 2017, there was a LIFE project led by Professor Bradley Thayer that dealt with hybrid warfare. The project brought together students from communication, political science, information technology and international relations. The result was a set of three academic papers dealing with hybrid warfare from different angles, ready to be published. In spring 2018, one of the students of IR has come up with a project idea and with the help of lecturer Catlyn Kirna has initiated a project dealing with Estonian peace structure that aims to develop additional material to the typology of the discipline. The project connects students from communication, law, international relations and Estonian studies.
The results will be ready by summer of 2018.
