Richie is in the process of ending his life in a bathtub, when he gets a call from his estranged sister, Maggie, asking him to look after his niece, Sophia, for the night. Richie cancels his plans and sets out to babysit his niece.
We are used to the privilege of observing movie characters involved in the most dramatic and intimate situations. It does not matter if we get emotionally touched by the character’s sad fate in similar manner if we watch films from our living room tv-screens, or from our mobile screens when flying across the Baltic Sea.
I wonder if anyone’s heard anything about that story before. Is it real? Yes? How real is it? Does it matter? Pretty much everything in the film is overshadowed by the performance of the majesty that is Gary Oldman.
